Increasingly counsellors are requested to provide short term therapy (eg. 6 sessions) for clients. This one-day course will help you to adapt your counselling approach to working short term. We explore the differences between short term counselling and brief therapy models (such as Brief Solution Focussed therapy, single session & One Session at a Time) and borrow some of the concepts, mindset and principles from them to help inform our shorter-term work. We cover a general overview structure and principles including how to manage client expectations, risk, safeguarding & signposting onwards after the 6 sessions.
SUITABLE FOR: Qualified psychotherapeutic counsellors & mental health practitioners who are increasingly delivering short term counselling & brief interventions.
TIME: 9.30- 16.30 (6 hr CPD)
WHAT THE COURSE INCLUDES: slides presentation, experiential small group discussions, case example. Includes course materials: slides, reading list resources.
