Introduction

Supervision and the development of reflective/reflexive practice has been a central requirement in the psychotherapy and counselling professions. It is increasingly seen as a relevant practice and support in many other professions including those of health care, education, social work, coaching, and within organisations.

The Gestalt Centre Supervision Training is recognised by UKCP.

The course is highly respected and has been praised by previous participants for its rigour, practicality, and creativity. The emphasis during the training is on practice with input and discussion of theory and ethics.

Who is the course for?

The Diploma in Supervision is designed for both individual and group practitioners at the start of their supervisory practice and experienced supervisors wishing to enhance or refresh their skills and practice.

The course is open to applicants of any modality and both UKCP members and non-members.

UKCP members, successfully passing the assessment component of the course gain entry to the UKCP Supervision Directory.

Course outcomes

The course offers the opportunity to develop the theoretical and practical knowledge, skills, confidence and qualification to become a UKCP registered supervisor.

Outcomes include,

Study a range of supervision models and their application.
Study and develop the skills and theory for the task of supervision.
Deepen understanding and awareness of the supervisor role and the dynamics of supervision.
Develop a deeper awareness of yourself and capacity to use this well as a supervisor.
Consider and appreciate diversity, intersectionality, and cultural dimensions in supervision.
Enhance understanding of ethical, pastoral, and therapeutic responsibilities, both as a supervisee and a supervisor.
Increase awareness and understanding of socio-cultural dimensions of supervision and ability to raise this with supervisees.
Scrutinise and discuss issues of importance including boundaries, institutional and organisational matters.
Enhance your skills in supervising appropriately practitioners with different levels of experience.
Use your own supervisory experience either as supervisee or supervisor, to enact and critique live practice.
Explore and practice creative methods to include in your repertoire as a supervisor.
Experience and practice working with ‘what is’ and with the insightful Gestalt approach that combines thoughtful theoretical input, experiential learning and skills practice.
